Tips for Staying Fit During Holiday Season

The holiday season is for spending time with family and friends. It’s about travel from one table to another. It’s about having a few more glasses of wine, and a few more pieces of sweets. It’s definitely not about going to the gym, or at least that is the excuse we tell ourselves.
Here at Findagym, we are going to offer you a few tips for keeping fit during this holiday season.

  1. Do NOT go back for seconds
    Sure, the food is delicious, and you’re having a good time, but eat in moderation. It is the season for putting on some pounds, but if you are not going to stick to your regular regiment of exercise, then at least do not overeat.
  2. Drink in moderation
    This one is actually quite difficult for most people as you will constantly be handed a glass of wine, a beer, a cocktail, some eggnog. “Happy Holidays!” Let’s drink to that. Let’s drink to another year! And then there is New Years around the corner, where drinking is almost a requirement. Where you can, cut out the alcohol, and save yourself some unnecessary calories.
  3. Do not opt out of the gym
    Even though you may be a regular gym goer, this season is notorious for breaking routine. If this is the case with you, then commit yourself to at least 30 minutes a day of workouts. Be that at the gym (ideally), or at home, make sure you give your body time to sweat out some of the toxins it is taking in.
  4. Do not skip meals
    You may be holding out for that evening gorge, but think again before acting on this idea. Fasting throughout the day in order to eat in abundance at the end of the day will cause your body to work twice or three times as hard to digest, it will leave you feeling over-the-top full and sleepy, so it really is not a great idea.
